Olympic Bid Logo: Summer Olympics in Philadelphia
The city of Philadelphia has so much history dating back to the growth of the United States that I knew I ha to give the logo a patriotic aesthetic. After many sketches, the liberty bell was working best. I decided to stick to the theme of landmarks and incorporate the famous "LOVE" statue by Robert Indiana located in downtown Philadelphia. I felt that the combination of the two landmarks created a balanced theme between history and modernism, just how the city has historic "Old City" and a more contemporary downtown area. I choose a saturated sky blue and firey red color that is reminiscent of the American flag, but more warmer, more intense shades that reflect the summer season. I decided to make the year in the blue shade so that the logo didn't reflect too much as the "LOVE" statue. In addition to the mark, I created a pattern out of the zero with the bell-shaped negative shape as a option as well. I was particularly excited about it because it gave more visibility and the reflected pattern gives the bell implied motion.
